Being one of a few million young girls that first fell in love with red shoes because of Dorothy’s magical Ruby Slippers in The Wizard of Oz, I wanted to touch on today’s Ruby Slipper. Still magical, still attention grabbing and always the sexiest color to adorn a woman’s foot as this knock out little number by Dolce & Gabbana shows.

This season presents a wide assortment of options for we red shoe loving gals, not just the stiletto though as Manolo Blahnik’s timeless Campari demonstrates, the red pump has still got it.

Miu Miu’s cute little flats along with Gucci’s iconic horsebit slingbacks are waiting for us at Styledrops as we speak.

Of course, for the terminally shy gal that still yearns for a pop of sexy red, how can she go wrong with Christian Louboutin and his trademark red soles?

So click the heels of your sexiest red shoes three times, but unlike Dorothy, I don’t think you’ll be wishing to go home.
Being one of the more “well-seasoned” members of the blog, I’ve seen many a fashion trend come and go, and come again. I did platform shoes in the 70’s and that was plenty for me. On seeing their return the past few years I can still hear the faint echoes of Stayin’ Alive in the distance and decided platforms needed to stay buried, at least for myself. I’ve always wondered if there has been a substantial increase in the profits of orthopedic surgeons from broken ankles since the return of platforms, but I digress……
On glancing over some of the new spring shoe collections for 2008, it would appear that once again the platform has returned to disco heaven to be replaced by kitten heels, lower chunky heels and in your face sexy stilettos. I especially love what I’ve seen so far of the Jimmy Choo Spring 2008 collection. Dolce & Gabbana, my personal choice for sexing up any outfit, has again caught my eye. As always, Prada has a huge variety of killer shoes from cute flats, to drop dead sexy heels, as well as demure office pumps.
Thankfully, with the exception of a few designers that shall remain nameless, the strains of Stayin’ Alive, flashbacks of elevator shoes and their modern counterpart appear to be doing the Hustle back into disco heaven.

Quickly before they go, strike your best John Travolta pose!
And I can understand her very well. It’s literally the perfect everday bag.
Big enough for the office and can be either dressed up or down. In its neutral colors the bag can be combined with so many different outfits. Use the long strap and your hands are free for going shopping. The bows on the side are a cute detail and gives it a cheerful look.
The Miu Miu bag even makes a tracksuit look good and chic. Carry it and skinny jeans or a simple black outfit will look more glamorous.

Are you liking this bag and want to own one, too? Go to the Styledrops page and shop for the bow satchel and many other Miu Miu handbags.
In a former lifetime, I had a set amount of money I would spend on a handbag: $50 and it must be leather. I typically carried that same bag daily until it wore out. My, how times have changed as I’ve gotten older.
There appears to be some type of designer ladder that a handbag lover is required to climb on their way to the top. I managed to bypass Dooney & Bourke, Coach, Kooba, Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton and in one a giant leap, went from my $50 department store bags into Prada handbags without catching my breath.
What is it about Prada handbags that have so hypnotized me that I’ve sold nearly every other designer bag I own for not measuring up to the Prada standard? I do tend to gravitate towards design houses with decades in the marketplace and a history behind them (hence Gucci, Chanel & Hermes), but why does Prada consistently land on top? A number of reasons. One only has to look at the inventory of online boutiques such as Styledrops to find an answer. Prada handbags come in so many personalities that it’s difficult not to find something to suit one’s mood. Slouchy totes and hobos for your long days of shopping. Elegant clutches for a special evening out. Nylon handbags and backpacks for those cold rainy days where function and utility are the way to go. Structured frame handbags, funky bags such as the heavily studded Trunk Bag from the Fall/Winter collection, there simply isn’t an end to one’s choices.
To this day, I cannot explain my love affair with Prada but I can definitely say we will be celebrating many happy anniversaries in the future, much to the chagrin of my poor confused husband and his empty wallet.

After my last entry about flats, I think every lady should have at least one classic trench coat in her wardrobe. A trench coat is a piece of clothing that can be worn
