These days most of us are pinching pennies and not spending more than we need to. Many shoppers find themselves shopping off the rack rather than having their clothing custom designed and made exclusively for them. For those of you that may not recognize the term “off the rack” it is simply the term for walking into a store and buying ready to wear clothing hanging on the racks.
For some shoppers this term brings to mind a feeling of terror; to have to shop off the rack has not been something they are used to doing. Well, rest assured that you can dress fashionably and buy off the rack; style and taste need not be sacrificed when you shop for fashion in a regular retail store rather than a designer store.
As many who attend the Oscar Awards well know, their attire is scrutinized from the moment they step out of the limo. All this scrutiny and photo flashing is not simply to document the person’s attendance. Rather, it is to document every detail of their attire to rush off to a waiting retail designer who will quickly get out a pattern for an overnight knock off to be on the racks the morning after (well, almost that quick). It has actually happened that Celebrity X’s gown design was leaked pre-event and the dress really was on the racks the morning after.
The point of the above example is this: fashion is copied and made available at affordable prices everywhere. Perhaps the material will be a little lighter in texture or the color will just a bit less intense but the design will be so similar that only a real fashion aficionado would be able to tell the difference.
Don’t let the economy get you down. Saving on purchases is the latest economic fashion craze, so hit the stores and shop off the rack for the same wonderful designs you see in magazines and on celebrities.
