Let’s face it – the fashion house of Chloé has been going in all sorts of directions ever since Phoebe Philo took the helm in 2001. Paulo Melim Andersson, the house’s last artistic director, bordered on storybook whimsy with his final collection. Now that Hannah MacGibbon is in charge, the brand is taking more classic and familiar paths.

MacGibbon’s first collection from the driver’s seat encompasses so many identities with so few colors or accoutrements. Even if the brand is well known for its stratospheric price tags and elite clientele, its new artistic director seems to be driving it towards someplace that’s more classic and uncluttered.

On one hand, there is that sense of a stylish Parisienne, the type who strolls along the Champs-Élysées wearing her dreamy ruffled white asymmetric dress. She’s also the type who’d go shopping at Rue de Faubourg Saint-Honoré in her gauzy curved-shoulder blouse and high-waist scalloped sky blue skirt.

And then there’s the beach-loving girl-next-door type who’d wear a hanging scallop-hemmed blouse with Bohemian-looking shorts to the seashore. Or perhaps she’d wear her very Greek goddess-style cinched jumpsuit for exploring the Riviera. There are volumes of comfort here without the extra volumes of fabric – perfect for the warm weather.

The brand’s S/S 09 collection boasts of very few radical pieces that attract stares on the street, but also has more classics that have been given a more feminine touch. Soft-shouldered blouses and flared high-waist shorts were some of the signature pieces of this collection – incongruous at first yet feminine and distinct all the same.

While many other brands’ collections rolled out a riot of colors that are usually reserved for spring, MacGibbon keeps her palette on the restrained side of the fence. Whites, khakis, olive greens and that particular Chloé-esque shade of dark tan (the kind you see on their paper bags) were the central colors of this collection – vibrant enough for the beach, but restrained enough for the more mature fashionista.

The new leadership in the fashion house seems to have the brand targeting a whole new demographic altogether. MacGibbon’s elegant, classics-heavy style is sure to appeal to older and more mature customers who want easily wearable and versatile pieces. It’s for the girl who wants to feel comfortable, and for whom looking great is just an extra bonus.

It’s still on a couple of Prada tote bags in the label’s S/S 09 collection, so it seems that this isn’t going out of vogue just yet. Besides, that contrast leather detail adds so much attitude to an otherwise ho-hum pair of hand warmers.

Sure, these babies are labeled as part of Prada’s collection for last season. But with the kind of quality and aesthetic that goes into this kind of product, they’re items that you could wear practically any day of the year. Who cares if it’s already S/S 09? Go ahead, wear them. They’re Prada and they’re yours.

One of the best (or worst, depending on how you look at it) things about fashion is that it keeps changing. What’s hideous and horrendous one day could turn into haute couture the next. For this season, there’s been a rather unexpected conversion from frumpy to fashionable. It’s not 100% hick chick, but the farm look definitely transformed as much as a Kansas-bound Dorothy that turned into a Manhattan It Girl.

Don’t shirk away from the pieces that you once thought too reminiscent of a farm because they’re exactly the In things right now. There are two keys to this trend – pattern and cut. You could reference it by using the typical patterns expected of the farm or the outback setting: plaids, gingham, checks and the like. Medium- to large-sized patterns work best because they move away from the usual urban styling of designer clothing.

Of course, don’t overwork your patterns. For any single ensemble, keep it to just one big pattern or two smaller ones. If you’re going to work with this plaid Burberry skirt , for example, it’s best to wear it with a simple white top. Pair it with a big pattern like another plaid and you’ll look like a rejected extra from Dragonheart.

Alternatively, you could use different cuts to emphasize how fashion-aware you are. Puffs and frills, while disgusting in abundance, can actually look femininely pretty if used in moderation. This ruffled Vivienne Westwood blouse  is a fine specimen of how moderated ruffles can make you look downright dainty.

Subtler references to this trend should be used if you want a more stylish ensemble with, say, high-heeled designer shoes. This scoop-neck flower-print dress from Gucci might not look very similar to the other two pieces above. However, its huge bordering-on-wallpaper print maintains that homey, parochial feeling that defines this trend.

With big-name designer brands like Marc Jacobs and Bottega Veneta riding on this particular trend, it’s highly unlikely that it’s just some flash in the pan. But now that the Spring season is slowly ticking away, it’s time for you to get on with the new trend before it gets all outdated.

It’s that time of year when the coats and the cashmeres are relegated to the closet for another 9 months, and the fun cuts are brought out to play. And play they did at New York Fashion Week! One of the more unexpected trends this year hasn’t been seen in quite a while – quite a long while. Ladies, please welcome back retro.

Now, don’t go digging out your old clothes closet from the groovier years. Retro has been done a few times since the right decade for it closed, but nobody has quite done it this way yet. Whereas ‘retro’ clothing often included loose-fitting items bordering on colored flour sacks, the retro for this season has its body-hugging moments too.

It might not be so explicit, but these slightly shimmering pants from Dolce & Gabbana seem to be harking back to the time when bell-bottoms and flared jeans were cool. Of course, denim isn’t as acceptable on today’s very luxe-conscious runways, but the sentiment is there nonetheless. The belted top, meanwhile, provides a pleasant contrast to the utter looseness and casualness of the pants.

You could take the trend by elements if you want to leave your Woodstock days behind but look forward to a very fashionable spring. This outfit from Matthew Williamson captures the vibrant colors of retro in a deeper, slightly more modern sheen. While the outfit as is looks a little too punk rock (it’s probably the Avril Lavigne hairstyle), that’s nothing a couple of bangles and those thin headbands from before won’t solve.

This trend might just call for a little experimentation, especially since you’ve got so much to play around with. Using those big colors from the period with classic pieces like the white tank in the Matthew Williamson ensemble apparently work. So does wearing a slightly fitted top with loose, flowing bottoms, like with D&G. You’d better start mixing and matching, girl; spring isn’t going to be around forever.

Talking about tops and blouses, are you baffled to see the immense collections out on the streets? Well, Cashmere silks were always my favorite and I got hold one through styledrops. This grey top I bought is so eye-catching with a flower on the right shoulder . The neck design fashions more splendor to the dress. No need to say about the material which is cashmere silk.

Once more, in relation to the neck pattern, it has pleats in the middle and with a u-shape ending when it comes to the shoulders.  I have never seen such a design before.  The grey color is the finest for this top I chosen. The broad elastics on the sleeves and the bottom of the top look gorgeous and very well fitted. I have washed this cloth, two to three times and found it very handy.

Recently I also splurged a little on my designer shoes. It was the one from Gucci I had been searching for years, and I feel like Cindrella everytime I wear it!! It is done a dark brown shoe fabricated in a leather material. The heels are comfortable and is about three and a half inches- not too high or too low, just perfect! The most attractive thing about these shoes is gold designed piece, decorated with classy embroidery type work on it. It traces back to the 70s, a typical gorgeous stunning piece. The price is not too high and I have been using it without any complaints so far.

I can go on talking about my latest booty, never coming to an end while speaking about the collections. Wide ranges of shoes in various colors and style are put up in advertise. But I am completely happy with their designer clothing and shoes.
