Gucci Loses a Star
25 February 2010 by Andrea
There are a number of things that Gucci is known for. They have been identified as the company with a distinct style and sense of design, which has helped them carve a niche for themselves. Of course, all of the success that they are enjoying now can be attributed to the designers who toiled day in and day out to get the Gucci brand out there and in the homes of the affluent and regular people alike.
Gucci is home to a number of prolific designers, one of which passed away recently. This untimely demise comes as a shock for Gucci and everyone who knew the designer, as he was definitely one of the best in the industry. Alexander McQueen, a British designer with his own brand line, was one of the star designers at Gucci. He had his own brand, McQ, which was a part of the Gucci brand name.
Alexander McQueen, or Lee as he was known by close friends in Gucci, was a rising star in the world of fashion. He had a rather unique style of design, which is what he was known for. Being only 40 years of age, one can speculate that pressures of being in this industry might have contributed to his death. Although officials have not declared the cause of his death, suicide is a possibility that has not been ruled out.
McQueen was slated to showcase his designs in Paris in less than a month. He will be very dearly missed, especially by those who knew him personally. In the brief period that he worked as a designer, he left an indelible mark in this effervescent industry that will be difficult to replace.
